This is Knights Gaming World review of Grand Theft Auto Online. I do want to point out that, when people say this game is a 18+ game, they really mean it is 18+ and only people over the age of 18 are allowed to play this video game. This review was done on the Xbox 360 platform.
Ok before we start with the review, i just want to say something on the launch problems, yes we do get this from time to time with games and we should not be shocked, BUT, GTA Online was held back for 2 weeks and by doing this made the launch problems happen, as if this was in GTA V at GTA V launch, not everyone would have gone online at one time, and yes we would had still had problems with GTA Online then, but not as many people would have cared cause we still had single player and that part of the game was brilliant. but this happens and this won't affect the score. Now to the review
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay itself plays a lot like the single player, and i was right saying that there are more things you can do online then in single player, and i can't see why some of them was not in single player, as some of them online parts are good ideas and would have made single player more easy and fun, also the side things they did add i like, but they are a bit pointless. Right I'm going to say this now, in this review you may hear the word grinding, as that is what you do in this game, this game really reminds me of a MMORPG game and it looks like Rockstar saw like world of warcraft and did think everyone liked the grinding part of that game, as the best way to level up and get money in this game is to do missions, but all the missions up to like level 25 are almost the same and the ones up to level 15 pay out very little. and another thing grinding itself is boring, but grinding missions that give you very little money is really boring, and i did keep doing this one mission over and over as it was fast and did pay out like 9k, so it was not as boring knowing it did pay out more, BUT Rockstar has now in the last update at the time of this review, removed the replay option at the end of missions and cause you don't know what missions you will get next from people, this has made getting money and leveling up much more harder, now this is odd, but when you think that rockstar have put microtransactions into this game and that fact that they have made it really hard to make money from in the game itself now after an update, it starts to show what rockstar are trying to do.
SINGLE PLAYER / STORY
Well this is online only so there is no single player in a way, you can play alone but it is online. When i started GTA Online, i did need to make a character, and the character creation was a good idea, but is very poor and a huge let down, this is something i hope won't be in the next game. then after 2 to 3 hours, maybe even longer to just get into GTA Online and get passed the tutorial, i was welcomed by a character from single player, and there are a many characters in single player that are in GTA Online and that is good, but you only see them for like a minute and when you do stuff for them, they just replay the same lines over, and over, and over again. and there is no story to this game really, just missions that are not really linked in anyway and no heists as they are in a later update, what is sad as heists are like the main point of single player and was the best parts. i also should say i played GTA Online for about 26 hours, so that is a lot of time to see a lot of the game.

GRAPHICS
The graphics are pretty much the same as single player, bad pop in's, good graphics when you think how big this open world is but in the end is still let down the the hardware it is on, this really should have been made on next gen.
SOUNDS / SOUNDTRACK
Well the soundtrack is still there what is good, but you're character does not talk, and everyone else that talks end up saying the same lines over and over, you know what i mean, so the voice acting in GTA Online has nothing when you look at single player's voice acting.

MULTIPLAYER / REPLAY VALUE
well there are team deathmatchs and side stuff you can do, but you can't play any team deathmatch games if you are a high level you are going to be kicked as no one plays the high level maps, oh yeah maps are not maps them self, are they are based on levels and you will never get to face off with people you're level on a lot of the maps cause of this really. the replay value itself i guess is in the grinding, but where in MMO games you do that to level up to go to a new place to fight new monsters and to unlock new stuff, in this you do that to, unlock stuff, that's it, grinding in this game really feels pointless and a waste of time, but you need to do it to get good gear, as if you play it's free mode you will lose so much to someone with better stuff, but this is where it drops down the hill like a rock, does anyone remember the fun in GTA IV free mode, where you had friendly fire off and everyone had rockets or when everyone was in a helicopter and so on, well you can't turn off friendly fire in this game and get this, you know you put you're money in the bank to be safe from other players, well if you die you still lose money, from the bank, i lost i think 2k once, and it was in the bank, so you can no longer play this game like GTA IV if you want to play GTA Online the way Rockstar want you to play.

SCORES
GAMEPLAY 5.4 / 10
The gameplay is not bad, it is just doing the same things over and over again just to unlock new things, to do over and over again, but Rockstar has made it worse by the removing replay and putting in microtransactions.

SINGLE PLAYER / STORY 4.0 / 10
There is no story really, bad character creation, only good things are characters from single player and maybe the heists when they add them in.
GRAPHICS 8.5 / 10
Graphics same from single player so it gets the same score as the single player graphics.
SOUNDS / SOUNDTRACK 6.0 / 10
good soundtrack, just no voice acting here at all, and when it is, you wish it was not as you hate it by the 50th time you hear the same lines again.
MULTIPLAYER / REPLAY VALUE 7.2 / 10
after a bit of time i can see this part getting better, it is just right now it is bad, and cause of how you lose money even if it is in the bank, it will never have the fun of GTA IV online and that is sad, but there are still many things you can do in this game that are fun with friends.
