This is Knights Gaming World review of Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition. This review was done on the PS3 platform. so lets get on with the review.

GAMEPLAY
As this is a RPG there are many parts to gameplay, so lets do bit by bit. The action parts where you fight others are pretty much just the same as another FPS ( you can play in third person but it is a bit pointless and is only used to look around stuff and at yourself ), but this game as a FPS is nothing special and lacks things that make other FPS games good, but this game has something that does make it it's own for the FPS parts and that is V.A.T.S, what is something when you press R2 makes everything stop and you can aim at parts and shoot, but this does use up action points and each shot takes up points, but it does build back up over time so you still need to be skilled in the FPS part and just not think you can use V.A.T.S. the RPG part of this game is very well made and i do like how it works, but i don't like how you can't get some perks if you don't have the right skill level and that is kind of hard to level up anyway, and there are only 30 levels what is not a lot but you don't level up to fast so it is ok. lock picking is good but hacking i find very boring, but it does make sense as how it works is that, there is a single word that you need to find out of loads of words that you can pick from, but you only get 4 goes and if you reset the hacking, it resets with a new word, and this like i said makes sense to me, but it is very, very slow and ends up being boring. This game also has sometimes huge frame rate problems and freezing problems, now these are things that we can see in all games, but sometimes the frame rate would drop so much that it makes it unplayable, but a reset can sometimes fix this but it is something that i should not need to do.

SINGLE PLAYER / STORY
You start the game in vault 101 and after a few years in the vault you get to take a test called G.O.A.T and when you try to take the test you will forever be stuck waiting for it to start, until you look online how to fix this bug, well that's what happened to me anyway, Bethesda games are well known for having bugs and i will only talk about the few i had that did stop the game from moving on. Lets talk about the main story, when you leave the vault, you are welcomed to the world that has turned into a mess and is full of bad guys Oswell as good ones, to get to the end of the main story with a few side quests done only took me just over 17 hours, but this is the GOTY edition and with the broken steel add on the story still goes on from that point and adds on a few more good hours to the main story, but there are loads of side quests and 5 add ons, and at the time of writing this review, i have played the game for over 43 hours and will most likely put even more hours into this game. but back to the main story, i feel like it was a bit of a let down, it did not last that long and i feel like it was nothing special, still good but i think Oblivion and Skyrim had much better main story's. I also got to point out another bug i had, with the add on mothership zeta, every time i did try to start it, it would just stop working, this happened five times in a row and I'm not sure how i fixed it but this is a bug that did brake the game and stopped me from moving on for sometime.

GRAPHICS
For a game that came out in 2008, and that it is a open world RPG game, the graphics are good, and the character models and animations are ok and do there job, but there are better looking games that came out that year.

SOUNDS / SOUNDTRACK
The voice acting is good and i like it, the sounds are good in the world, but i can't remember one bit of soundtrack, now i have missed music and soundtracks before, but this game feels like there was never a soundtrack, maybe that was the point as it is a sad messed up world and music may take away from the pain of the world, but this part of the review is to rate the music as well, and there is almost no music.

MULTIPLAYER / REPLAY VALUE
There is no online at all so the replay value is in the side quests, and there are loads of them, and something i really like are the achievements / trophies and how you get a lot of them by doing the side quests. not much else to say on this really, the side quests alone and add on's add loads of hours and hours of gameplay.

SCORES

GAMEPLAY  8.9 / 10
The gameplay is fun, yes not the best FPS side of things and parts that make it unplayable can be annoying, but the V.A.T.S is a good idea and the RPG side of things is very well made.

SINGLE PLAYER / STORY  8.2 / 10
The main story is a bit of a let down and not the best, but it is still good, and a very well made world, but the game stopping bugs are annoying.... but the small bugs are funny, so that's something.

GRAPHICS  8.6 / 10
Not the best graphics but still good, some games in 2008 had better graphics, but these are still good graphics and for an open world that is good.

SOUNDS / SOUNDTRACK  7.4 / 10
Good voice acting and the sounds of the world are good, but not having much of a soundtrack really is odd but again maybe that was the point, but I'm not sure, still would have liked more of a soundtrack.

MULTIPLAYER / REPLAY VALUE  10 / 10
Huge replay value with all the side quests, add on's and all the achievements / trophies.

REVIEWER'S BONUS SCORE  +0.4
Reason for the +0.4 is that this was a really good fun game to play and i can't wait to get back to this game and to still continue playing it to see more of this world.

Final Score  9.0 / 10
A very well made game with a few bugs here and there, but still fun to play and can't wait for Fallout 4.
